With a playoff win on the line, Merritt Island rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Titusville Terriers, posting a 41-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Kevin Verpaele was his usual excellent self, throwing for 320 yards and three TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 40 yards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (162.4). Kamar Fielder also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Merritt Island didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Devonte Peterson and Roman Mingo, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Merritt Island has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Titusville, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Merritt Island will venture away from home to face off against Eau Gallie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 894 yards in their previous games. Titusville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
