Hazleton Area  took care of business in their home opener  (and then some) on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Berwick Bulldogs as they made off with  a  16-6 win. The  victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
 Kayla Lagowy was  incredible,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Olivia Williams, who  went 3-for-4 with four  RBI and two  doubles.
 Hazleton Area  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berwick only posted  an  OBP of  .500.
Berwick now  has a losing record of 1-2.
 Hazleton Area has already played their next contest,  a  14-2  loss against South Williamsport on the 1st. As for Berwick, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  a  15-11  win against Hanover Area on the 1st.
