Softball Recap: Signal Mountain Sets Scoring Season-High Against Red Bank

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Signal Mountain). They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Red Bank Lions on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

May Collier spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Berkley Roddy, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Gill, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Signal Mountain's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Red Bank, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Signal Mountain will square off against Soddy Daisy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Bank, they will host Chattanooga Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
