Russell waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Minneapolis Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 on Tuesday.

Jaxon Ross was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Russell is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Ross was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Thielen, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Russell is 9-4 when Thielen posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Mason Rohr was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Russell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Russell's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Minneapolis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Russell will host Ellis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Railroaders have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Minneapolis will be paying especially close attention to Russell's contest: after Russell faces off against Ellinwood, they'll take on Minneapolis again.
