Softball Recap: Westminster Comes Up Short

Westminster extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-14. They came up short against the Crean Lutheran Saints, falling 12-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in March.

Jhassleen Robles made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Naomi Miranda was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

As for Crean Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

On Crean Lutheran's side, the team relied heavily on Karter Wheeler (2028), who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Wheeler (2028) has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Chavez (2029), who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster will host Calvary Chapel at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crean Lutheran, they will square off against Sunny Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
