Baseball Game Preview: Alonso Ravens vs. Newsome Wolves

The Alonso Ravens will venture away from home to challenge the Newsome Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Alonso comes in on four and Newsome on six.

Alonso's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Palm Harbor University. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Alvin Santiago, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Raymond Llanes, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Alonso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Newsome sidestepped Chamberlain for a 4-2 victory.

Alonso's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs over those games. As for Newsome, their record is now 6-1.

Alonso might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Newsome when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Alonso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
