Mountain View had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors as the Mountain View Lobos made off with a 33-7 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Lobos as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Omar Nevarez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Diego Gonzales also helped out with an impressive 111 receiving yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mountain View was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 526 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Santa Teresa lost, don't look at Nicholas Vierra. Despite the final result, he rushed for 101 yards, and also threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Jesus Gutierrez was Vierra's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Santa Teresa's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mountain View will square off against El Paso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games. As for Santa Teresa, they will face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
