Soccer Game Preview: North Wilkes vs. Starmount

North Wilkes is 0-9-1 against Starmount since October of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Vikings will square off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. North Wilkes has given up an average of 6.3 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for North Wilkes' offense. They came up short against Elkin on Wednesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, North Wilkes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Elkin are ranked 136th).

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, Starmount was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell just short of West Wilkes by a score of 1-0. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of four yellow cards before it was all over.

Starmount's loss dropped their record down to 9-8-3. As for North Wilkes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

North Wilkes suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Starmount in their previous meeting on October 1st. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Vikings were down 8-1.
