Soccer Recap: Avery County Comes Up Short

After flying high against East Wilkes on Tuesday, Avery County came back down to earth. The Vikings came up short against the West Wilkes Blackhawks on Wednesday, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against West Wilkes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 last Thursday.

Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Wilkes, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avery County will square off against Ashe County at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for West Wilkes, they will take on Surry Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Surry Central's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
