Baseball Recap: Tazewell Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Virginia High, Tazewell was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Marion Goat 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brody Myers was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Tazewell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

Tazewell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Tazewell's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Marion, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Tazewell will venture away from home to face off against Richlands at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Tornado's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Marion, they will take on Graham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The G-Men have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.41 runs per game on average), something the Goat will no doubt try to take advantage of.
