Baseball Game Preview: Belen Eagles vs. Portales Rams

The Belen Eagles will take on the Portales Rams in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Belen's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.

Belen's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Socorro with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Portales' offense. They lost 10-0 to Clovis on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Portales saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Salgado, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Kaden Parrish also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Belen's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Portales, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Belen came out on top in a nail-biter against Portales in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Does Belen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Portales turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
