Recap: Virginia City Muckers vs. Owyhee Braves
The Virginia City Muckers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 51-27 loss at the hands of Owyhee. Virginia City lost against Owyhee in their previous head to head back in February of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 84-53 score last time.
Virginia City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiya Krum, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Nanna Lopez was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Virginia City's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Owyhee, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Virginia City and Portola will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Owyhee's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mineral County at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Mineral County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
