Basketball Recap: Elmira's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Elmira had won three straight games and Mariah Matias did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for the Elmira Express in a 58-41 victory over the Union-Endicott Tigers thanks in part to Matias, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Alyvia Woodruff was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six steals and five assists. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in boards (five).

Elmira's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Union-Endicott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmira will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Rockland at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Union-Endicott, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Binghamton at 7:15 p.m.
