The Stanton Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Stanton didn't have quite enough to beat Guardian Angels Central Catholic and fell 3-2.
Stanton wouldn't go down easily and took Guardian Angels Central Catholic into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 24-26, 15-12.
Stanton's loss came about despite a quality game from Rylan Hansen, who had 17 digs and one assist.
Meanwhile, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge had already won ten in a row and they went ahead and made it 11 on Wednesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since September 13th.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Laurel-Concord-Coleridge who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-6.
Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 23-8. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, their victory bumped their record up to 30-3.
Stanton was able to grind out a solid win over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge when the teams last played back in September of 2016, winning 2-0. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
