Basketball Game Preview: Troup Tigers vs. Grand Saline Indians

The Troup Tigers will take on the Grand Saline Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Troup challenged Sabine on Tuesday. Troup walked away with a 63-50 win over Sabine. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Grand Saline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Malakoff by a score of 69-58 on Tuesday.

Troup better keep an eye on Landon Mayne. He was instrumental in Grand Saline's win, going 12-for-21 on his way to 30 points and four steals. Mayne's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Blane Thompson was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine assists and three steals.

Troup's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Grand Saline, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Troup strolled past Grand Saline in their previous matchup back in December of 2016 by a score of 54-36. Will Troup repeat their success, or does Grand Saline have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
