Basketball Recap: Harper Thober's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shelton over Deshler

Shelton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Deshler Dragons on Saturday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dragons earlier this season, when they won 63-53.

Shelton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Harper Thober, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Myers, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Kaden Kleen went supernova for Deshler, going 6-for-11 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Kleen also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Easton Nash was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Shelton's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Deshler, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Shelton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-4 win against Harvard on the 14th. As for Deshler, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-16 victory against Giltner on the 11th.
