Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Academy Patriots vs. Falls Lake Firebirds

Franklin Academy hasn't had much luck against Falls Lake recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Franklin Academy Patriots will take on the Falls Lake Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Franklin Academy turned things around against East Wake Academy on Friday. They secured a 41-36 W over the Eagles.

Addison Soles was the offensive standout of the game as she went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points. Those 16 points gave her a new career-high. Bella DeLiso was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Falls Lake earned a 48-40 win over NCSSM: Durham on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Franklin Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Falls Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Franklin Academy came up short against Falls Lake in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 50-41. Thankfully for Franklin Academy, Emerson Thompson (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
