Basketball Game Preview: Lanham Christian Lions vs. King's Christian Academy Eagles

Lanham Christian has gone 8-2 against King's Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lanham Christian Lions will host the King's Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Lanham Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully King's Christian Academy likes a good challenge.

Lanham Christian is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Avalon just ended the team's 17-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 77-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Knights. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Black Knights are ranked 103rd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Naz Joy, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Brandon Williams was another key player, putting up 14 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, King's Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 79-73 to Southern Maryland Christian Academy.

Like King's Christian Academy, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Cayden Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 assists. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymere Somerville, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Lanham Christian's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-5. As for King's Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Lanham Christian took their win against King's Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 80-58. In that matchup, Lanham Christian amassed a halftime lead of 40-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
