Softball Recap: Elberta Beats UMS-Wright Prep for Their Fourth Straight Win

Elberta extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping them up to 13-13. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Madison Willis's shutout, as she gave up just five hits.

At the plate, Braelynn Mason was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Macy Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Elberta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as UMS-Wright Prep only posted a batting average of .208.

As for UMS-Wright Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season. While getting shut out isn't ideal, they haven't been shut out since back in February.

On UMS-Wright Prep's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Shepler, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Elberta will venture away from home to face off against Rain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.73 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Theodore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
