Baseball Recap: Dunellen Wins Going Away Against Highland Park

Dunellen was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Highland Park on Monday. The Destroyers put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Destroyers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Highland Park's batters probably weren't too happy with Cole Mayer, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up three walks).

At the plate, Dunellen let Michael Dow and Mark Stein run wild. Dow scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Stein scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Dow a new career-high in RBI (three).

Dunellen's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Highland Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Dunellen has already played their next matchup, a 13-7 victory against New Brunswick on the 15th. Hopefully Highland Park payed attention to the Destroyers' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
