Softball Game Preview: Newport Wildcats vs. Robertson County Black Devils

The Newport Wildcats will take on the Robertson County Black Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Newport's offense. They came up short against Newport Central Catholic on Monday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Robertson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 20-9 to Bellevue.

Robertson County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Newport, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Newport skirted past Robertson County 28-27 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Black Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
