Baseball Recap: Hickory Flat Takes a Loss

Hickory Flat was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Independence Wildcats, falling 18-3. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Hickory Flat saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tripp Pipkin, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Hickory Flat's loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Independence, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Flat will venture away from home to square off against Ingomar at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Independence, they will head out to take on White Station at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
