Basketball Recap: Statesville Christian Comes Up Short

Statesville Christian and Halifax Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Statesville Christian had to settle for second. They lost 44-19 to the Halifax Academy Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Vikings are ranked 223rd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Halifax Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carolina Corum, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Hayden Barlow was another key player, going 6 for 14 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Statesville Christian and nudges their season record down to 11-7. As for Halifax Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Statesville Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Halifax Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Ridgecroft at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
