Softball Game Preview: Castle Knights vs. Kalani Falcons

The Castle Knights will head out on the road to take on the Kalani Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Castle made easy work of Kaimuki and carried off a 16-8 victory.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Kalani and Kaimuki meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout.

Layna Faria was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Morinaga, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Kalani always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Castle now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kalani, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Castle couldn't quite get it done against Kalani in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
