League recap: Hickman throws longest pass in league this season for Brookhaven Academy

Fans got a thrill when Heath Hickman and Jacob Thurman connected against East Rankin Academy. The connection went for 77 yards, the longest such play in MAIS AA District 5 this season.

Prentiss Christian lost to Adams County Christian 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Brookhaven Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hickman threw for 196 and 2 touchdowns and Thurman had 107 yards receiving. On the ground Connor Dorman contributed 71 yards. Ethan Harris helped Brookhaven Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 41 yards.

He was 13-17 with 1 interception.

Dorman was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 71 yards on 13 carries as the Cougars topped the Patriots. Teammate Landon Nettles added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.

Brookhaven Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hickman has thrown for 865 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Thurman has 23 catches for 303 yards.

Brookhaven Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,557 from 10,002. The improvement was largely due to a 27-23 victory over East Rankin Academy last week.
