Softball Recap: Lakin Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Lakin had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Colby Eagles by a score of 11-10. The loss continues a trend for the Broncs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Moriah Ortiz spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Lileah Villa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taegan Oldom, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.

Colby now has a winning record of 3-2.

While Lakin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
