Softball Game Preview: Barrington Eagles vs. South Kingstown Rebels

The Barrington Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the South Kingstown Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Barrington has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Barrington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: North Providence, who was ranked 24th at the time (Barrington was ranked 17th). The Eagles took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Monday.

Grace Fontaine stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Maya Etheridge was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Kingstown). They blew past Woonsocket 17-1 on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Barrington's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for South Kingstown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10-1.

Barrington got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against South Kingstown by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
