Basketball Recap: Headland Continues Home Dominance on Monday

While Headland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Poplar Springs Atomics on Monday as the Headland Rams made off with a 40-20 win. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 136th in Alabama, while the Atomics are ranked 374th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Headland pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Poplar Springs, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Headland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-29 win against Barbour County on the 10th. As for Poplar Springs, they will be playing at home against Ponce De Leon at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
