Basketball Recap: Midview Takes a Loss

Midview played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Berea-Midpark Titans 77-38. The loss continues a trend for the Middies in their matchups with the Titans: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Midview still got an impressive performance from Brady Newton, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and six boards. Brennen Newton also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Berea-Midpark found their leader in sophomore Nick Reece, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 23 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Reece has been hot for a while, having posted 21 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Reid Braaten was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five steals and three blocks.

Midview's record now sits at 2-15. As for Berea-Midpark, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midview will challenge North Ridgeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midview is facing North Ridgeville at the right time seeing as North Ridgeville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Berea-Midpark, they will face off against Avon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Berea-Midpark's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
