Baseball Recap: Deptford Takes a Loss

Deptford extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 2-17. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Triton Mustangs. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Triton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

For Triton's part, Dylan Bernard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Jason Good was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Monte, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

While Deptford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
