Basketball Recap: Cypress Woods Comes Up Short

Cypress Woods played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 82-20 loss at the hands of the Cypress Springs Panthers. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-15.

Janiah Ledet was Cypress Woods' leading scorer, having posted six points. Erin Authorlee held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Cypress Springs was led to victory by Ayla Mcdowell and Jemini Mitchell. Mcdowell dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Mitchell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Mcdowell is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Catelyn Le was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Woods and nudges their season record down to 17-15. As for Cypress Springs, the victory (which was their 20th in a row) raised their record to 24-3.

Cypress Woods didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-24 defeat against Cypress Ranch on the 29th. Cypress Springs has also already played their next game, an 82-12 win against Cypress Park on the 29th.
