Basketball Recap: Chaparral's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaparral). They blew past the Grand Junction Tigers 65-41 on Thursday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Tigers are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lauren Thompson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 15 steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Jenkins, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 22 points and three steals.

Chaparral was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Chaparral's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Grand Junction, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Chaparral wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-24 win against Grand Junction Central on the 13th. As for Grand Junction, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-25 loss against Rocky Mountain on the 13th.
