Baseball Recap: Wilmington Takes Down Chicago Christian in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Wilmington rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Christian Knights. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests in a row.

Ryan Kettman and Lucas Rink made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kettman pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rink tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kettman has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. At bat, Kettman went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Rink went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dierks Geiss, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Wilmington's record now sits at 23-8. As for Chicago Christian, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-11.

As of now, neither Wilmington nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
