Baseball Game Preview: Pitman Pride vs. Downey Knights

For the second straight game, Pitman will face off against Downey. Pitman will be playing at home against Downey at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pitman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Downey with a sharp 9-2 win on Monday. The Pride not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024.

Noah Cervantes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Pitman let Ben Vilhauer and Nathan Cervantes run wild. Vilhauer went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Cervantes scored a run while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Cervantes has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nolan Walker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Pitman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Pitman and bumps their season record up to 6-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Downey, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.
