Softball Game Preview: Coastal Academy Stingrays vs. Francis Parker Lancers

The Coastal Academy Stingrays are taking a road trip to square off against the Francis Parker Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coastal Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Coastal Academy after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Foothills Christian by a score of 4-3. The Stingrays haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Therese Frazer put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple.

In other batting news, Cayla Contreras was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Meanwhile, Francis Parker got themselves on the board against Valley Center on Monday, but Valley Center never followed suit. They came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 4-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Francis Parker's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Coastal Academy, their record is now 5-2.

Everything went Coastal Academy's way against Francis Parker in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Coastal Academy made off with a 17-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coastal Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
