Softball Game Preview: Mechanicsburg Indians vs. West Liberty-Salem Tigers

For the second straight game, Mechanicsburg will face off against West Liberty-Salem. The Indians will take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Mechanicsburg got the win against West Liberty-Salem by a conclusive 9-2. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.

Mylee DeLong made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Keelyn McGhee was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Batkiewicz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mechanicsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Liberty-Salem only posted a batting average of .217.

Mechanicsburg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for West Liberty-Salem, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
