Upper Cape Cod RVT had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it four. They lost 18-5 to the Old Colony RVT Cougars. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 22-16.
Upper Cape Cod RVT saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosalie Neville, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Neville has hit this season. Another was Brooklyn Kutil, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Old Colony RVT, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games.
On Old Colony RVT's side, Sharon Delancey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Delancey has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Caton was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Lindsay Sumner was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Cape Cod RVT will take on Nauset Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Old Colony RVT, they will challenge Bristol County Agricultural at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
