Softball Recap: Natalia Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Natalia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Cotulla Cowboys on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Cowboys back in March, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Arabella Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Anaya Jones was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Selyene Gallegos, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Natalia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cotulla, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natalia will head out to challenge Dilley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Cotulla, they will square off against Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Javelinas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.62 runs per game on average), something the Cowboys will no doubt try to take advantage of.
