Basketball Game Preview: Independence Patriots vs. Glendale Cardinals

The Independence Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Glendale Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Independence ended up a good deal behind La Joya Community and lost 60-44. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Glendale didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Sierra Linda on Friday, but they still walked away with a 56-51 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Independence better keep an eye on Michael Palomino. He was instrumental in Glendale's win, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Palomino a new career-high in rebounds. Victor Rodriguez was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Glendale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Glendale's record now sits at 4-5. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Independence strolled past Glendale when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 69-55. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Glendale's Keme Jones, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 19 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Independence to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
