Basketball Recap: Gaither Beats Hillsborough for Their Third Straight Win

Gaither won against Alonso last Tuesday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Gaither Cowboys walked away with a 49-39 win over the Hillsborough Terriers. The victory was nothing new for the Cowboys as they're now sitting on three straight.

Gaither can attribute much of their success to Carolyn Emanuel, who posted 11 points and seven steals. Jeirany Taveras was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Gaither smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Hillsborough's loss came despite strong showings from Anaja Griffin and Jaylesia James. Griffin dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while James went 6 for 8 on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those 21 points gave Griffin a new career-high.

The win got Gaither back to even at 10-10. As for Hillsborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Gaither wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-15 victory against Lennard on the 22nd. Hillsborough has also already played their next contest, a 74-12 loss against Sickles on the 24th.
