Basketball Recap: Haysville Campus Takes a Loss

Haysville Campus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Liberal Redskins 72-24. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Redskins are ranked 71st).

Haysville Campus' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joslen Craig, who posted four points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shamari Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Lewis a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Maliyah Mullens, who shot 46% from the field on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Haysville Campus' defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Liberal, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Haysville Campus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberal, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-57 loss against East on the 8th.
