Softball Recap: Eastern Wins Going Away Against Marion

Eastern won the last time they faced Marion and things went their way on Saturday too. The Comets blew past the Giants 16-1.

Ava Roberson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Elle Winger was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Hendricks, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion only posted an OBP of .182.

Eastern's record is now 3-18. As for Marion, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Eastern will venture away from home to challenge Clinton Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-7 loss against Caston on the 12th.
