Basketball Recap: Pinson Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mcgill-Toolen

Pinson Valley extended their postseason success on Wednesday against McGill-Toolen. They took down the McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets 56-37. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth in Alabama, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 39th in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Austin 'Woo' Coner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5-for-10 to rack up 19 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamarcus 'Smoke' Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

Pinson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The defeat snapped McGill-Toolen's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 22-9 record.

Coming up, Pinson Valley will challenge Paul W. Bryant at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Paul W. Bryant will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Pinson Valley surely won't give up without a fight. McGill-Toolen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
