Central Texas Christian extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Legacy Prep Christian Academy 50-10. Considering Central Texas Christian has won four contests by more than 39 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Austin Evans had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 229 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 70 receiving yards and one TD. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Another player making a difference was Cooper Smith, who threw for 184 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central Texas Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Prep Christian Academy only rushed for 157.
Central Texas Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Coulter Ragsdale, Ike Klimchuk, Evans, and Rhett Humphrey picked up one apiece. Evans' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Central Texas Christian received some extra help from Colin Sonnier, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
As for Legacy Prep Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. Having soared to a lofty 63 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Legacy Prep Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from AJ Adeleye, who rushed for 143 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Texas Christian will head out to square off against Rosehill Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Legacy Prep Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Frassati Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
