Volleyball Game Preview: South Lyon Lions vs. Walled Lake Northern Knights

The South Lyon Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Walled Lake Northern Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It was a proper cat-fight when South Lyon duked it out with South Lyon East on Tuesday. The Lions lost 3-0 to the Cougars. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-11.

South Lyon's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lauren Chanko, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, Walled Lake Northern came up short against Milford on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

While Walled Lake Northern ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 25-17.

South Lyon's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1-1 and their overall record down to 28-7-1. As for Walled Lake Northern, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7-1.

South Lyon beat Walled Lake Northern 3-1 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
