Softball Recap: Greenwood Wins Going Away Against Holmes County Central

The Greenwood Bulldogs got the win against the Holmes County Central Jaguars on Thursday by a conclusive 20-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Chari Brownlee made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Brownlee was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing eight bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those eight stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makayla Hunter was a standout: she scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jaida Peoples, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Greenwood and bumps their season record up to 10-5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will venture away from home to face off against Louisville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holmes County Central, they will face off against Yazoo City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
