Baseball Recap: Mullins Triumphs

While Mullins's victory against Kingstree wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Auctioneers won by a run and slipped past the Blazers 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Auctioneers have posted since March 25th.

Bryan Jonap was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. He has become a key player for Mullins: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jadae Mcgill was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mullins' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 0-11 when he doesn't). Andre Littlejohn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mullins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mullins is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Kingstree, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

As of now, neither Mullins nor the Blazers have any future games scheduled.
