Football Game Preview: Newark Valley vs. Waverly

On Saturday Newark Valley will take on Waverly at 1:00 PM. Newark Valley are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the match prepared for a fight.

Don't be fooled by the insanely high score: we promise Sidney and Newark Valley were playing football. Newark Valley came up short against Sidney last Friday, falling 46-53. Newark Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Caden Bennett, who rushed for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Waverly, but their most recent matchup may have softened the blow. They took their contest against Harpursville/Afton by a conclusive 34-12 score. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for Waverly, who can brag about three blowout wins.

Waverly's win lifted them to 6-2 while Newark Valley's loss dropped them down to 5-3. We'll find out if Waverly can add another positive mark to their record or if Newark Valley can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Waverly's step.
