Baseball Game Preview: Antonian Prep Apaches vs. Savio Eagles

For the second straight game, Antonian Prep will face off against Savio. The Apaches will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Eagles at 12:00 p.m.

Antonian Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Savio on Tuesday, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Apaches have posted since February 27th.

Cai Garza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Antonian Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Alex Canales was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Kela, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Antonian Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Antonian Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Savio, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2.
