Soccer Game Preview: South Lakes vs. Westfield

The South Lakes Seahawks will face off against the Westfield Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. South Lakes is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

South Lakes fell victim to Oakton and their airtight defense on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, South Lakes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Oakton are ranked 100th).

Westfield, on the other hand, haven't lost since March 25th and they too continued that trend. They had just enough and edged out Centreville 3-2.

Westfield pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five contests. As for South Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

South Lakes came out on top in a nail-biter against Westfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Seahawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
